How Amy Van Dyken-Rouen turns injury into inspiration: 'This is for my life'
Fri Jun 27, 2014
In reply to: Sam Stout #1 Good for you Sam! There are a whole lot more like us out there than many realize. As for me, I am nearing my twentieth year upon this journey towards recovery from being paralyzed from the waist on down. To look at me today, one would never know! Like you, I still …

In reply to: Collette-2906015 #11.1 I am glad that you are happy with Kaiser. However Kaiser has had it's problems as well. I know this from personal firsthand experience! A doctor employed by Kaiser paralyzed me from the waist on down nearly two decades ago. He was just doing his par …
Paralyzed bride planning a baby via surrogate
Sun May 4, 2014
If she has the mental capacity to be a mother, as I think she does, she will do fine. Her disability will only hinder her performance of some physical aspects of motherhood. It may be to her benefit that she cannot change her child's diaper! The mental aspects of motherhood are so muc …
Puppy rescuer takes dogs on 4,200-mile odyssey to loving arms
Fri Apr 25, 2014
It is great that there is an avenue such as this to help dogs find a forever home, however it is also such a shame that they have to travel so far to find one. I am just glad that I have been blessed to receive all of my pups as strays who have found my side to call home.
Like I'm 'floating': Teen with MS becomes running star
Wed Mar 5, 2014
As a recovering paraplegic, I have to admire this young lady. However said, I do have my concerns for her as well. If her legs are going numb as she runs and then collapses when she stops, could this be more detrimental to her overall well-being in the long run? (No pun intended) If this is somethin …

A lil' act of kindness can go a long way. There are those of us who enjoy who sit back and watch "life" and help in ways that we can to benefit those who we see in need or have touched our souls in some manner without having any expectations of any type of reward or acknowledgement. This man was tou …
Canadian lottery winner donates $40 million jackpot to charity
Thu Dec 19, 2013
This gentleman is content with what he has earned in life. The 40 million he won wouldn't make any difference to him, so he did what he thought would beneifit others based upon his experience with his wifes' cancer. I admire this man. He knows what is important...helping others.
'Little angel': Rescue dog helps doctors monitor girl during surgery
Wed Dec 18, 2013
Dogs are amazing creatures! My dalmatian was able to sense the changes in my legs as my nerves started re-innervating. He would sniff upwards starting at my feet and work his way towards my waist...front and back, left and right legs both! One of my current dogs is also able to sense the chang …
Tourist hit by cab to pursue $27.5 million claim against NYC
Fri Dec 13, 2013
I beg to differ. The injured party does not collect when the medical community doctors their records to cover their behind and the maximum amount you are able to go after under the stipulations afforded to and for the insurance industry is way less than what it would cost to take it through the frig …
Consumers have had enough, 'rage survey' says
Tue Dec 10, 2013
Anybody can compete on price, but service before, during and after the sale determines whether or not I do business with them. However said, in these times, there are just some companies that you have no choice but to do business with as they all suck! Oh well! It is what it is and will continue to …
